Cavapoos

The Cavapoo is a cross breed, a cross between a pedigree Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Toy or Miniature Poodle (we use either a Toy Poodle or small Miniature Poodle). An F1 cross from pure breed, pedigree parents is known to be the healthiest cross – we only breed F1 Cavapoos, 50% Cavalier and 50% Toy Poodle or Miniature Poodle.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are excellent family dogs, they are placid, gentle, affectionate and generally laid back. Crossing the good-natured cavalier with the spritely, intelligent toy poodle adds a real twinkle to the eye and a spring to the step of the Cavapoo.

Cavapoos love children, they are playful and have a wonderful temperament and are active enough to play happily in the garden until everyone is worn out. Cavapoos are typically outgoing and yet loyal, they are great dogs to consider if you are looking for a service dog. Cavapoos are affectionate and enjoy human company, they are not suited to being left at home all day alone.

The average size of our Cavapoos is 4kg – 9kg fully grown, although there are always exceptions. The coat of a Cavapoo should be thick and wavy and low to non-shedding. As Cavaliers do shed we can make no promises on their suitability for allergy sufferers, we advise anyone with allergy concerns to spend as much time as possible with adult Cavapoos.

Unfortunately purebred Cavaliers are prone to some genetic conditions, for this reason we take health testing very seriously and aim to offer all our Cavapoo puppies the very best opportunity for a long and healthy life. With one parent a poodle the likelihood of these conditions being passed onto a Cavapoo puppy are greatly minimised. It is important for heart health that both Cavaliers and Cavapoos are well exercised and not allowed to become overweight.
